Liseberg gets better and beter. Lovely atmosphere, great food and a wonderful selection of rides. Balder was good, Lisebergbanan was better. Can't wait to get back there again.
Chris Hull
Wondeful vist to Liseberg as always. Balder was a little sluggish but still featured its trademark airtime. Warm welcome and hospitality from Lasse and the staff. Thanks to all!
Malcolm Marr
Liseberg was an awesome park even if Balder wasn't quite there and Upswingett was Downswingett. I don't think anyone minded the park being as busy as it was with thousands of Swedish girls from the local football tournament in attendance. Great planning from the trips monkeys there! :)
Keith Johnson
I just loved Liseberg as much as I did the first time that I visited the park. What better way to enjoy good coasters with good dancing at the dance pavillion.
andycoasterboy
a day at Liseberg is something that you will remember for a long time. Thanks Lasse and all the ride ops for a great time.
Jeff Holmes
Well done Sweden for having such a wonderful city of Gothenburg and a fantastic park Liseberg with a spectacular Balder woodie
Michael Horwood
Possibly the best park on the trip. But too bad for the crowds. Most amazing = 5 (sic!) trains on "Lisebergbannen".
Celia Horwood
Liseberg is one great park. Lisebergbannen is such a classy and elegant ride and yes, with five, count them, five trains! Bonus was to be able to walk back and forth from the hotel. Doesn't get much better than that!
Yvonne Janik
Balder was amazingly smooth and great fun with all that airtime -- WOW!!! I loved all of Liseberg, and the park was everything I imagined it would be. It was also a hoot to have a huge dance floor and live band for dancing.
Jeppe Nygaard
I had a very good day at Liseberg. The weather was good, and the park was packed and at its best. I still love Lisebergbanan and had scary fun at Gasten. We had a fantastic night time ERS on Balder and Kanonen -- one of the true highlights for me. I LOVE Liseberg!
Liz Fryer-Kelsey
Liseberg was busy all day, we were lucky to have the surprise first rides of the day on Lisebergbanen. Balder is an airtime machine. Kanonen seemed like a smooth ride until the first inversion, then it boxed my ears so badly that I just wanted the ride to end quickly, I only rode it once. I remembered from previous visits that the rapid river was one of the best I had been on, and I still enjoyed it, probably becuase the boat spins most of the time, and the water runs fast. Hello Mouse towers.
Mick Fryer-Kelsey
Balder: running as well as I remember, although a bit sluggish. We were told that it had been running at 53 seconds, but the wheels had been changed and now it is running at about 57 seconds. Kanonen: as good as when I rode it on the press day. Park in general lived up to expectations from our previous visits, although rather busy we had a good day and with our VIP passes we could ride everything and enter the gaston hausen.
Kat s.
Liseberg coaster were some of the best on the trip. Talhat and I were treated to a rollback on Kanonen from the front seat! Balder lived up to its reputation as one of the best woodies, filled with airtime and an incredible sunset led to a thrill packed nighttime ERS.
Talhat Mahmood
Same as above just change Talhat for Kat before I was treated.
Andy Costin
Another great day at Liseberg! Balder was a little slower this year but it was still a great ride. A long tiring but great day.
Terry Jarvis
Had great day at Liseberg. The coasters are running well. Balder still has plenty of floaty airtime, though is running slower than four years ago! Launched coaster is also fun!
Coastin' Carl Ragan
Liseberg, what a great park. Balder, Kanonen, and Lisebergbanen were great coasters. Lack of small eateries, but there are restaurants, Goteberg is a nice place, 30,000 kids were playing soccer tournaments there I saw while on my way to my swedish massage. The best view can be found from the tower. Glad I'm back online BTW!
Rockin Bill BUckley
Liseberg was a fantastic park. Even the large crowds could not dull a great selection of rides. All in all, a real gem among the Scandi parks -- one truly not to be missed!!
Darren and Mary
Liseberg- great park,Darren walked straight on to KANONEN with no hesitation, Balder was also great and we both went on several times.
Scott Planeta
Had a great time at Liseberg. Fun park and good coaster.
Mike & Bob Englander
Liseberg is a wonderful city park; Balder was running a little slow, but good.
Gordon Taylor
Liseberg. No time to write a full report but the usual 5 star park, 5 star treatment we've come to love, with the now familiar Balder ERS at night with nails and a hammer. All the coasters here ROCK, the staff are incredible, the food is gourmet in the restaurants and it's always a VERY special day here. BIG thank-you! You get the picture....
Cal Jones
Liseberg is a wonderful park - probably my favourite of the trip so far, not so much for the rides but for the atmosphere. Lisebergbanan is wonderful and we had a great ERS on Balder and Kanonen. Brilliant lunch in one of the restaurants as well. Only bummer was getting absolutely totalled on the log flume, as I was sharing with Chris, Dan and Gordon and decided to take one for the team by sitting in front. Not such a prudent idea after all - a tsunami came over the sides at the bottom of both drops and I was soaked through from the chest down. Lucky the hotel was over the road! Funny though.
Mette Doving
Balder is still my number one Woody. Great day at Liseberg, wounderful park. Lots of people, but the lines where not too bad.
Nina Kleppe
Had a great day at Liseberg. Shame the new Swing Uppsvinget wasn't working. The evening ERS on Balder was superb, cool to ride it in the dark. Great woodie with lots of airtime.
Patrick Flumet
Liseberg est vraiment un de mes park favori. Lisebegbahn reste apres 25 ans un tout grand ride et Balder tient toujours sa reputation. L'addition de Kanonen en fait un tres bon spot pour les amateurs.
James "Spinner" Hannaford
Liseberg was amazing and one of the best on the Trip for me so far. I pride myself on having little if no information on Parks and rides on these trips which makes rides like Lisbergbahn a wonderful suprise a True Classic and I cant believe it's 25 years Old. It's a shame The corkscrew at Alton is not so re-rideable. ERS on Balder was good and as for banging nails into the structure that has to be a first for me.
Rob Hill
Liseberg is one of the best parks I've ever been to. All the parks on this trip have been great, but this one is my favorite. Balder moved into my Top Ten Woodie list, and Lisebergbanen (my 600th coaster) moved into my Top Ten Steel list. Perfect weather made the day even more special.
Tim Galvelis
Liseberg! 4 coasters, and this place is still better than Cedar Point. 5 train operation on Lisebergbanen, and never a delay in the queue time. Looks like there will never be a need for Q-Bot here, with proper management like we had at Liseberg. Balder is still the best of the 3 pre-fabricated Intamins.
David Elvy
Liseberg, a park I have wanted to go to for a while. It was a long day, but wow, great Park, great atmosphere and lots of great rides. Balder is an amazing Wooden coaster, faultless, fun and mountains of airtime, and the ers on this was a blast. Had a great meal at the Park too.
Paul Hindle
A long day (14 hours) at the park; completely different to the previous day. Now we had thousands of kids to content with! Anyway, ended the day with 10 rides on Balder in the dark from 11pm to midnight. Its a very smooth too smooth? ride almost had the feel of a steelie.
Richard Bannister
Lisebergbanan still has it after all these years, though if I could pray for one small modification, itd be nice to have magnetic fin brakes to replace the current simulated car crash at the end of the ride. The star attraction of the day was of course the local wildlife, but if were restricting ourselves to talking about the park then itd have to be Balder. I like Balder.
Thomas Enders
Owen & Alan Rees
What can we say Balder, Balder, Balder.
Rob Derman
Balder? Whats that? Sorry, just a little distracted from the ferry ride this morning I was explaining to my two new Swedish friends Sara and Trina what air time was. They are from Gotenberg and were very impressed with the media reports on what our group thought of Liseberg (and even more impressed with our number 1 CreHos 1100th and I was very impressed with them but Balder wasnt bad either
John Gasper
Yesterday we visited Liseberg in Gotenberg, Sweden. They really know how to take care of their parks over here. This was a wonderful old park with a great assortment of rides!!!!! Lisebergbanen is the longest Schwarzkopf in the world and a great location. It runs up the side of a steep rock and then drops down around the hillside five times. Balder is an excellent ride!!!!! Most people (myself included) who rode it for the first time did not thinkit lived up to the hype , but it still delivers a lot of airtime! Kanonen was just ok, we only rode it once. The rapids ride is great fun has a crazy place where you bunch up and bounce around like bumper boats. The flume is also very good and wet a wild multi-level drop. One of the best ever dark walk through rides is here also. Its called Hotel Gasten!! Before ERS we walked under Balder and wrote our names with sharpies on the structure and pounded nails into it as well. They had a big wooden dance floor in the middle of the park where hundreds of people were swing dancing. Where are the usual suspects when I need them???? We took a ferry early this morning and are now in Denmark.
Ole Bredesen-Vestby
Yesterday was in my opinion the best day of this trip so far. I thought 14 hours in the park would be very long time, but it's such a lovely park so the hours just flew away. And the ERS in the evening on Balder and Kanonen, wow... I had such a great time.
Adam King
Hello everybody, absolutely everybody, everyone in the whole wide world!! Just got to Denmark after the ferry crossing (rough) ferry crossing from Sweden. Liseberg was great. ERS on the Schwarzkopf terrain coaster in the morning and night time ERSs on Balder and Kanonen. We were also alllowed to scribble, graffiti, doodle, whatever on Balder and hammer in nails which was very unusual but great fun. Haunted walk through was very good too. Also, the women in the park were the best of the trip thus far, ding dang doo!!! Perhaps we were all too close to that Nitro?? Haha!! Quick side note hotels have been very good quality and weather (apart from Lauris which was a real shame) has been very good. Read you later, same bat time, same bat channel!!!
Bob Clark
Wonderful welcome from Liseberg and all the staff. Lisebergbanen was brilliant 5 train operation was a real joy. Thank you Lasse for another great day.
Mats Hummel
Fantastic day at Liseberg. Maybe a little bit too crowded, shall I blame the nice weather we had? :-) The drop tower, Hjdskrcken is the only ride I know that actually has a queue for the exit, amazing. Enjoyed Lisebergbanan, Kanonen and Balder a lot. Got 7 consecutive rides on Balder during the ERS. Unfortunately I missed the rollback on Kanonen at midnight :-) Thank you Liseberg and Lasse for a very pleasant visit!
Paul Freeman
A great park with the highlight being Balder a great woodie with tons of airtime throughout the ride, the ERS on this and Kanonen ensured we got plenty of rides. The park was very busy but not a problem as we had plenty of time here. The actor based walkthrough Hotell Gasten was well themed with the route through it and the actors actions varying between rides, making several visits worthwhile.
Hello to everyone back home, back soon.
Lars Sorensen
Liseberg is a nice park. The ERS on balder was really good, and what an opportunity to hammer nails into balder. I had a really great day. Thanks Lasse for the great day.
Daniel Almer
Thanks a lot to Liseberg for that great day. Due to the sunny weather is was really crowded, but because of the ERS and the good capacity of Lisebergbanan we got plenty of rides on them. Kanonen should immediately have new restraints, they are very painful! AUUUU! Swedish girls are so cute! :-) Gothia Towers is such a nice hotel. The bathroom has a large window so everyone in your room can watch you having a shower, how strange!
Matthias Pies
Danke fuer den tollen Tag in Liseberg. Lisebergbanan und Balder sind zwei herrvoragende Coaster. Ueber Kanonen will ich keine unnoetigen Worte verlieren. Aendert was an den verdammten Schulterbuegeln. So macht das Ding Null Spass. Vielen Dank auch fuer die
Ken Simmons
It was nice staying at the Gothia Towers Hotel, directly across the street from Liseberg. This was so convenient for everyone needing a little break during the day. Besides the coasters, Liseberg has a few other attractions that are very entertaining, including a walk-through haunted house, with live actors, and the really fun Jukebox ride. The ride in the parks tower was long and provided a great view of Liseberg and the city. Two of the coasters at Liseberg are OK, those being Kanonen and Circusexpressen. Balder and Lisebergbahnan are both excellent rides, though I understand that they weren't running as fast as usual yesterday. Overall it was a really nice day, especially the weather, at another excellent park.
Lace Patton
So far I would say that I enjoyed Liseberg the most out of all of the parks that we have visited so far. I especially liked the terrain coaster. What a great park. Thanks for the dancing Keith. I'll definitely make plans to come back here, not only to re-visit Liseberg but to enjoy the city also. The convenience of staying at the Gothia Towers was greatly appreciated. This mornings ferry ride was pleasant also. So far Denmark looks a lot like the mid-west of U.S.A. complete with cornfields.
Andy Dewar
I think my day at Liseberg was one of the best theme park days of my life. The park has a great atmosphere, looks beautiful, and is very well run. This trip and in particular Lisebergbanan has reinvented my perception of what the word capacity means. Far better run than any UK park. I've wanted to go there for many years and it lived up to my expectations. I loved all their rides, I thoroughly enjoyed the ERS. Balder is a brilliant ride, it feels quite strange for a woodie but fun nonetheless with much airtime. Anyhow I wish there were more parks like this in the world, the place just rocks.
George Greenay
Continuing from this morning, the view from the room, and also from the bathroom window, is Liseberg. we are in the park for an hour on the coaster built into the terrain of the hill, the park is compact and well laid out and has a family atmosphere, and today proved to be popular with the locals. being so close to the hotel allowed a break from the park to go sight seeing in the local cafes. the evening was prearranged for a work colleague who'd departed England last march to meet up for a beer (or 6) nice way to end the day back in the park on ERS on Balder. It's a good woodie, smooth and fun, but not as relentless and breathtaking as the voyage. still a top ten coaster and it would fit nicely into Altons terrain. maybe one day.
David & Susan Ellis
Liseberg was as excellent as ever. The nightime ERS was amazing, with members hammering nails into the structure and signing their names on one of the best coasters in the world. A day of contradictions - Balder was hairy, Uppswinget was down. Weather started changeable but was sunny for most of the afternoon. Another great day. Next stop Denmark!
Torrence Jenkins
After seeing the park entrance, and the beauty of the park after dark with all the lights, it was like stepping back in time. Lisebergbanen is one great ride, Balder is a great ride also. The park staff was very frendly and let us into the structure of Balder before ride time.
Mike & Kammy Sislofsky
We had a great time at Liseberg and in Goteborg. Liseberg is a wonderful park. It has a lot of good rides and coasters, is beautifully landscaped (both architecturally and florally), and has many eateries (although the 4 Burger Kings that we saw don't contribute to the quality of the food). Balder is a great ride for air time lovers! Lisebergbanan is a very long Schwarzkopf masterpiece and has great capacity (they were running 5 trains most of the day). Kanonen is a bit too abrupt in its transitions for our liking though. Other notable attractions are the Hotel Gasten haunted walk-thru, the Juke Box (a Schwarzkopf Polyp), the log ride, and the sky tower (which probably has the longest duration of any tower we have been on). Bye, bye Sweden. Hello Denmark.
Rob Moes
First visit to Goteborg. It's a lovely city to explore on foot, even more perfect if you had a bike or a scooter...thanks to all the designated paths. The park was swarming within 2 hours, very reminiscent of DisneyAnywhere. Glad to get the coasters done quickly. Balder is obviously designed to be an air-time machine. Unfortunately for me, I could not enjoy this ride with my hands up because I hit a couple of my fingers on the overhead beams. In the modern age of computer-assisted coaster design there is no excuse for this flaw. The log ride with the double drop was probably my favorite ride in the park. Another lovely day for us in Sweden!
Allan Bonomi
Really enjoyed Lisebergbanen and the way it utilized the hilliside it was built on. Juke Box was a joy. The Peter Pan knock-off was charming.
Mike Thompson
Liseberg was a terrific, well-rounded park, but its coasters did not live up to the hype. While they were good, they were not outstanding on the windy day that we visited. I'd love to return someday.
Rendell Bird
Poor Liseberg! Goteborg, Sweden, was hosting a huge children's soccer tournament at the exact same time that the ECC trip raced through town. 25,000 children were given free tickets to be used at any point during their stay. Unfortunately for us, a large percentage chose to take advantage of the windy-but-sunny weather to spend a day at the park. Some sections of this charming but small park were "standing room only". Line-jumping was rampant. Trash was ankle-deep by the end of the day. Poor, poor, Liseberg; to have us visit on such a busy day. To make matters worse, the coasters failed to excite me to the level of my anticipation. Balder was good but not great. Kanonen was "meh" but not good. And Lisebergbanan was downright bad (in my humble opinion). On the other hand, the "Fantasy Castle Ride" was precious - and their haunted walk-through is the most elaborate one I've ever experienced. I enjoyed my day at the park since our hotel was directly across the street - and I could run back to the run to grab stuff and/or take a nap!
Martha and Al Amborn
Liseberg was as wonderful as I remember from 3 years ago! OK, so our photo was on the front page of the local paper today, but they have given me a new nickname "Coaster Mom"! Balder could run a lot faster, durnnit, but ride time was great. Loved the hospitality!
Tim Baldwin and Jeffrey Seifert
How to be short when there are so many cool things to talk about? While the two signature coasters didn't meet up to the expectations set, Liseberg itself surpassed expectations. What a wonderful, beautiful, and well-run park. The flume was excellent and the haunted walk through was outstanding. I'm not sure if adding the fifth train on Lisbergbannen did much more than stack it, but what a marvel to see a coaster run with five trains! Loved the park and hope to return again. The Gothia Towers Hotel rocked - it had ice cubes!! I'm not so sure about the glass windows looking into the showers.....hmmm.
Andy Wright
What a great start no bus ride walk across road to hotel. We were treated to a morning on Lisebergbanaen in the morning and what a ride I never like the Schwarzkopf Jetline at Grona Land but this, I would say is great a lovely terain coaster smooth and re-rideable. The whole day spent in this wonderfull park in the city. I think I tryed everything. The ERS they put on for us was the best I have seen so far on the trip. We hammered a nail into the ride and signed with our name on Balder, my new No 1 Wooden Coaster. I have never left my mark on a ride. I loved every ride on this coaster and I would return to this place to ride just that coaster it was great day and a great ride.
B. Derek Shaw
The best hotel on the trip is across the street from another favorite park on the trip. Liseberg. Lasse was again, a great host. The Lisebergbanan continued to deliver the goods, with five trains in operation! Their launch coaster, Kanonen, was OK, but nothing compared to Speed Monster that we rode yesterday at Tusenfryd. Balder was almost as good as the first time I rode it on the CCT II trip. It still delivers massive air time. The Hotel Gasten, haunted walk thru was as good as ever. The Rock and Roll ride (themed Polyp with a jukebox playing American oldies and vintage American cars) was great. I have to go to Sweden to ride something that should be more prevalent in the USA! Mid-day we made a brief visit into Goteburg. It is a nice city that Im glad to have seen on this trip.
Bob & Cheri Armstrong
Liseberg is a wonderful city amusement park with lots of flowers and trees. We loved Lisbergbanen, the Schwarzkopf steel terrain coaster. This is a long coaster, operating five trains. Balder was so much better in the evening, a very nice ride, and very smooth. The Gasten Hotel was a great walk-thru with live actors jumping out at you. Also, our first park with a live morning band for dancing. The dancing was ballroom style, and the participates were all over 70. Maybe we can do something like that when we get old! It was a great day and most enjoyable park.
Andreas and Mechthild Namyslo
Liseberg: again a wonderful day with great coasters!!!
Kim Varde Lassen
Liseberg....finally, always wanted to go there. Coasters where good, but my expectations where very high. Lisebergbanan is unique but not as fantastic as I thought. Best element in a launched coaster is still the launch itself. Kanonen was too rough for me, mostly bescause of the over-the-shoulder restraints. You do have to brace yourself not to bang your head on them, especially with the moves on Kanonen. Balder however is another story. Fantastic, rerideable and great looking...just superb. The hammer, nail and signing thing just made is better.
