Beautiful Park and an amazing setting, especially the location of Boulder Dash. Weather getting hotter by the day too! Hats off to the park again, great staffing of Boulder Dash for the ERS and a great lunch. Beware - do not ride the back seats on their older woodie, brutal!
David Elvy
As I write this, we are now on the coach from Lake Compounce down to Clementon Lake, hopefully we will get some good views of New York again as we did the other day on the way up north. Well, today has been fun. A few hours at Lake Compounce started off with an ERS on Boulder Dash, the ride op was allowing double rides for all during the session. The ride has an amazing setting, which gives some good visuals, a fast paced, out of control ride. We also rode the Wildcat, and the Zoomerang coaster, as well as a few of the flat rides. The Rapids ride was an experience, I don't think I have ever laughed so much at someone ( Martin ) getting totally soaked. We had a nice lunch in the Park too.
Mick FK
Lake Compounce, beautiful setting. Boulder Dash, nice ride in the front, not so in the back, but riding through the woods is quite an experience. The view of the Park from the cableway made a picture postcard.

The big attraction today was obviously Boulder Dash, and being a coaster rookie in terms of riding but not in terms of reading about coasters, my expectations where really high. Unfortuantely I was let down... the coaster is simply too rough to my liking. Liked the speed and the unpredictability of it, going thru the trees an everything, but being smacked around that much just made my back hurt. Four rides and that was it for me. Maybe I'll never be a real woodie fan. I'll have to go ride some more to find out. The park and operators where great, just as would be expected. By the way...loved the swing ride!!!!
Matthias Pies
Today we went to Lake Compounce to ride Boulder Dash. WHOW!!!! What an amazing ride. The setting is amazing. The ride is very fast, all the time near the ground, but it very rough in the back. But my highlight today where the Thunder Rapids. One of the best Rapids I have ever been on. I got more than soaked.
Malcolm Marr
Started the morning with an excellently run ERS on Boulderdash. One of those coasters I first saw years ago and thought "One day I'd love to ride that!". I had 20 goes in all, not having to leave the station after each ride. The park is stunning, really nicely located with a nice classic feel to it. We're now on our way to Clementon Lake for our first surprise park of the trip. Hi to the Hoys, the Raithe', Tom and Keith. BTW Mr. Johnson, Martin passed on your message and if I see that middle finger again, I'll break it. In Connecticut it's against the law to cross the street on your hands, not that I'd be able to do that anyway!
Mark Riley and Jenny Lamb
Wow its hot! I think everyones grateful that we were at a beautiful but small park today due to the heat. The morning ERS on Boulder Dash was great, with the front seats being a dream. Again the staff here were superb and the park presented perfectly.
Thomas Enders
Wirklich einmalig.
Andrew Lamb
A really nice small park featuring two great wooden coasters, Boulder Bash which we had an ERS on, The Operator was great, he seemed happy to be there and let people stay on for repeat rides. Another great ride at this park was the S&S Screaming Swing named Thunder and Lightning, this type of ride is my favourite, it gives loads of airtime, and this particular one was run exceptionally well give tons of full swings.
Andycoasterboy
Lake Compounce is a great family park with a good selection of rides and the excellent Boulderdash perched up against the hillside. The morning ERS was outstanding with two consecutive rides giving just enough time to catch your breath. Now on the bus heading towards the mystery park???
Jeff Holmes
Lake Compounce is a fantastic park for families with very friendly staff. Their classic woodie Boulder Dash certainly is a great ride. There is a stunning chair lift ride with breathtaking views. The Rapids Ride could have done with more water splashes though !!!!!!!
Paul Worts
Im in the bar in Europa Park Hotel... Where is everybody? It's my round!!!!!!
Jeppe Nygaard
Lake Compounce was a very nice, neat park with friendly employees who seem happy that that we visited the park, cared about how we were enjoying our day, and interested in where we were from, and wanted to know how we were liking our experience at the park. Boulder Dash was quite large coaster, built into the mountain, was running fast, but was a bit rough. But I liked this unusual woodie.
Yvonne Janik
Boulder Dash in the front seat was awesome just like it was when I rode it in 2001. Also Lake Compounce has some of the best fudge in the world, and I had been craving it since I was last at the park in 2001. WOW! I loved the park and the fudge, and I greatly appreciate Mary Morriss help in setting all this up and think Jerry is a great GM!
John Coffield
Boulder Dash is still the best trip trough the trees you can find. But only in the No. 1 seat, the back is a bit on the rough side for me, but many still love it.
Paul Orsmond
Lake Compounce is a wonderful family park with a great atmosphere, some good rides, and a really nice looking woodie built on the mountainside of the park, the ride itself was quite rough and felt out of control, but it's still liked by many. The staff are absolutely wonderful, and very friendly, and the park is set in a wonderful area. As for the SkyRide, Incredible views all round, Wonderful
Paul Freeman
Lake Compounce was a very pretty park loads of Azelias! Boulder Dash looked absolutely stunning, a terrain hugging woodie with the lift hill climbing of into the woodland and the final leg running past the lake. We had an ERS on this. If only the ride lived up to its settings and the views from the ride. Anywhere from the middle of the train back was painful to ride. The classic woodie Wildcat provided a fun ride and the River Rapids are the wettest and most fun Ive ridden. We were treated very well by the park and its staff. Some great barbequed food for lunch and a guest appearance by Garfield! Free soft drinks throughout the park is a great idea that added to the day.
Stu & Martin Simms
Rushing through the trees and rocks on Boulder Dash was an intense experience yet strangely fun and repeatable ride. The staff were very friendly particularly using the microphone on Zoomerang to entertain everyone on the ride. The breathtaking views from the Skyride were a great end to our time at this charming little park.
Bart Van Goethem
I was really looking forward to this small park because of their terrain coaster Boulder Dash. I was gobsmacked by its continious speed, airtime and laterals. Voorin vlogen we echt over de baan. Super!! Then we tried the new S&S Swing, really stunning, this oversized swing. I want one in my backyard. We had an good meal. Het was maar weer eens seen veggie burger die we zelf kon beleggen. To cool down, 28 degrees, Thunder Rapids looked as a wild ride. It was. Everybody got soaked to the bone!
Chris Hull
Another great park. Boulder Dash proved to be a wilder way to wake up and brush away the cobwebs. Fantastic setting through the trees and along the side of the lake. Very wet rapids followed but thankfully a nice warm sunny day to dry off. Thunder and Lightning (S&S Screaming Swing) proved to be another surprise for me. Really enjoyable and nice pops of airtime. Really warm welcome and hospitality from the staff (and Garfield!).
Justin Garvanovic
My first time at the park with the ride open!! Boulder Dash has one of the most impressive locations of any coaster, but due to a nasty "kick" in the track just after the turnaround, it's probably the abiding memory of it I'll be taking away. :< The park as a whole is beautiful, and fortunately still feels like a traditional park. The park can not be faulted for its hopsitality and great staff - hats of the ERS staff especially.
Lorna & Adrian Dade
Great park, Rough coasters, Good selection of rides and again treated great by the park staff. Thanks to everyone at the park for a great time.
Derek & Val Cromarty
Good little park, made to feel welcome by staff. The two woodies were really wild!!
Mats Hummel
Great little park. Rough coasters. Great having consecutive rides during ERS. Good collection of other rides, brings back memories from the past (enterprise, rotor). Free soda was a real treat on this hot day.
Steve Davies
Great little park, very friendly, in a lovely setting. The chairlift up the mountain was a relaxing experience. Boulder dash a great coaster but its no.1 claim was marred by its roughness which for me bordered on unpleasant. Its Vekoma boomerang was surprisingly smooth, though!
Dave Hall
Amazing park, very beautiful. The chairlift was great and the rapids were simply insane in the after lunch takeover!
Ole Bredesen-Vestby:
Nice little park, and a great ERS on Boulder Dash. Also a river rapids that really made you soaked, and a very relaxing and scenic trip in the Sky Ride. Didnt get to do all the rides, but nevertheless a great day so far.
Nina Kleppe
The day started off with an hour ERS on Boulder Dash. It was very rough, and good at the same time. I had six goes on it, and that was enough. A nice little park with friendly staff. And now were off to somewhere else.
Even Stangebye
The Boulder Dash really woke me up this morning!! It had a great layout on the lake hillside, but I think it was too rough. After 4 trips on the ERS, my heart said go more, but all the rest of my body parts said NO NO NO DONT!!!! It would almost make Thundercoaster a smooth ride. OK, almost then Off to New Jersey!!! og en liten hilsen til dere der hjemme!! ?
Odd Arne Rste
Bolder Dash was high on my wishing list before the trip and it was awesome. The layout was great, but a little to rough. Superman yesterday was amazing with ERS both in the morning and in the evening. Thank you SFNE. Thunderbolt was a pleasant surprise and also Pandemonium. I dont like spinning rides, and with my luck it did spin a lot. But it was a really fun coaster. Both Lake Compounce and SFNE had beautiful layout and nice picnicareas with nice lunches. Now to the first surprise park.
Eirik Erstad
Thank you to Lake Compounce for a short, hectic, but fun day. Boulderdash was quite an experience. I wouldnt call it rough, but rather POWERFUL! And the speed lets just say there were quite a lot of both positive and negative g-forces at work. I had 5 rides on Boulderdash and enjoyed every one of them. Americas oldest amusement park is beautiful and with a nice variety of rides. Now we are somewhere in New Jersey on our way to a surprise park, a Japan trip DVD playing on the overhead monitors. Could it get any better than this? Haaper det staar bra til hjemme i Norge. Jonas, en pakke Orville Redenbacher Ultimate Butter ligger i bagasjen. Skal nok faa anledning til aa handle mer foer vi er tilbake.
Leon Schuurbiers
Its a shame we only had a couple of hours in Lake Compounce, I would have liked to do more rides there! Boulderdash is a really fast and intense coaster, but very enjoyable (once you learn how to handle the bump behind the last turn.). The location on the mountain, through all the woods is just amazing. Plenty more to see, a beautiful park and I would have loved to try the water park.
David & Susan Ellis
Today started with a 1-hour ERS on Boulder Dash at Lake Compounce. Starting with two front seat rides the terrain coaster on the side of the mountain provided some powerful rides. It was terrific in the front seats but a bit painful in the back, especially on one particular point on the home straight. We rode it 5 years ago and it was more re-rideable, a few goes was enough for Susan today. The park is a lovely little park, very pretty set between a lake and some mountains. There is a chairlift up the mountain that provided a peaceful relax after Boulder Dash! Now heading for a surprise parkClementon Lake
David Harrington
This family park is in a beautiful setting, on the side of a mountain, and has made good use of this setting on two rides - Boulderdash and the cable car. Our ERS was on Boulderdash and I was surprised at just how rough it was, although I still managed ten rides on it! The operators on this ride were fantastic, letting us stay on for two rides at a time - even when I had to get off I could get on again as they preferred to run the ferocity and some very rough points - I still felt it was a good ride though. The ride uses the hillside setting well, with the lift hill running up the side of the hill and trains tearing through woodland for the rest of the ride. The cable car was superb - a great way to get away from civilisation for a while and offering great views over what is a really beautiful area of the country. There were a good collection of supporting rides, including an S&S Screaming Swing, a tower ride, another tamer woodie, the Wildcat and a very fun rapids ride. Another very hot day - up to 91F (about 30 degrees C) - helped slightly today by the woodland setting of this park. Overall a really nice, friendly park, and one which I really enjoyed visiting.
Chris Simon
Phew, what a scorcher. You can sometimes have too much good weather cant you? Anyway, I digress. L.C. is a really nice family park. Boulder Dash unfortunately seems to have developed hexagonal wheels in the last 5 years since I first rode it. Its always been an aggressive ride, but now theres also a great deal of vibration and a few nasty bum slams. The neverending supply of friendly staff lessened the pain somewhat though. Thunder & Lightning, the S&S screamin swing thing, wasnt as extreme as I imagined it would be is that what Rush is like? It was just pleasant, not unlike a Pirate Ship.
James Spanner Hannaford
So the purpose of this trip is to enjoy coasters and to be honest I Dont really look on the website i.e RCDB at the rides of the trip This then makes all the rides on a trip a surprise. You have a few people on these trips who have been to these parks before and I have made a Packed that If I was to return to any of these parks I wont say a thing to anyone who hasnt been here. All I heard was small park not a lot there NOT A LOT THERE!! Hello Boulder Dash What a ride Plus friendly staff If only the big Parks of the world could Learn from the Small Ones What a wonderful world this would be. Keep up the Great Work
Alan Prior & Carolyn Buckley
This was our first visit to this small and friendly little park. There was a good selection of family orientated rides. As soon as we got into the park we were treated to an hour long ERS on Boulderdash and I was looking forwards to this one quite a lot. I knew that it was a CCI and less than five years old so thought it would be a ground hugging version of Megafobia. I was wrong! We had two rides one after the other both sat in the middle of the train. Both me and Caz came off with blinding headaches and had to sit out the rest of the ERS which is a great shame. It was rough and vibrated to the extent that it was surprising that nobody lost any fillings on it. Very disappointing. We also tried out their other woodie the Wildcat which turned out to be rougher than Boulder Dash. It wasnt just wild, it was brutal and definitely a never again sort of ride. The free soda was a lovely surprise, it was nice to just help yourself to drinks and cool off under the air conditioning next to the drinks machines. ihthe temperature getting as high as 32 C it was most welcome. There was an S&S screaming swing Thunder & Lightning which is a clone of Rush at Thorpe Park but with a longer ride cycle. It was nice to be able to get on such a ride with n o breakdowns and no queue! The prize for the most amusingly named ride had to go to Down Time, a S&S shot & drop tower perhaps this would have made a better name for Stelf! We are now on our way to our first surprise park of the trip so there will no doubt be more scribblings of the trip report variety later.
Chris Penn
What a wonderfull park some great rides the best being of course boulder dash. A superb wooden coaster with no let ups so super fast how a wooden coaster should be like the boss at six flags st louis.
Darren and Mary
The ERS on Bolderdash was great and the double/triple consecutive rides offered appealed to Darren. The free drinks were appreciated, as\was the friendly atmosphere. Good day made even better by the news of a visit to another park today.
Pete Proct(E)r
Good so far today, nice ERS on Boulderdash. Definitely a front seat ride though! Wildcat gave some great old PTC/Schmeck goodness. How about the cable car? GREAT views! Good lunch today too, nice selection. Well, as mentioned previous were on our way to a surprise park a welcome surprise for myself certainly.. tarrah for (so far) today.
Peter Jackson
Well what a great little park, clean friendly staff, free soda and well Boulderdash. What can I say I guess 12 rides tells you all you need to know.( ok a bit rough in places but really enjoyable through the trees etc ) The sky ride up the mountain let us see what a lovely area we were in.Prior to lunch we decided to get soaked on the rapids..Lunch was typical park food but very nice. The park had a decent looking water park too but we ran out of time.. If I was ever doing my own trip I would certainly make this park on my list. Thanks to all the staff and ride ops.
The evening of Day 3 was an interesting with an add on park called Lake Clementon with arguing ride operators on the big wheel who put a trainee in charge of stopping the wheel. This kept over shooting resulting in the other ride operators shouting from the other side of the wheel. All very entertaining. Then came the woodie. Well I rode it twice it was mad.
Steve Davies
Hi Les! J2 last night was the roller coaster equivalent of a pit bull terrier-vicious and aggressive but that was part of its character.
David & Susan Ellis
Tonight was a surprise visit to Clementon Lake park to ride their S&S wooden coaster J2. Previously called Tsunami, this coaster is a really intense ride with a helix that could best be described as insane!
Chris Simon
I really liked J2! It was rough if you sat over the wheels, but elsewhere I found it fun, manic, and completely crazy. A couple of great airtime hills and a helix the likes of which youre not likely to see many times on a woodie!
Chris Penn
J2 was absolutely mental simply fast and furious its an insane ride! Go and ride it and see.
Mark Riley and Jenny Lamb
If youre looking for a wild coaster with a serious attitude problem, look no further than J2 at Clementon Lake. The relentless speed and non-stop action was mind-blowing for such a compact woodie. The ERS really sorted the men out from the boys!
Andycoasterboy
The first surprise park on the trip was Clementon, a small family park with its fair share of flat rides, Our ERS was spent on the insanely fast J2 which had its surprise moments in the darkness.
Jeff Holmes
Clemonton Park was quite a good little family park but is NOT very well signposted at all so Paul Worts will have trouble finding it. Their J2 wooden coaster was very crazy indeed headache tablets all round.
Martin Valt
J2 simply ridiculous really. Cant decide whether I hated it or loved it but, wow!
Bart Van Goethem
This park has put itself on the map with J2. Loved the energy it kept on giving. Never done such a helix that kept on going. To compensate my loss with the dark ERS on Superman I kept on going on the J2 dark ERS. I loved it to bits. They said I was crazy!
Paul Orsmond
While there is not much to do at Clemonton Lake, Its a nice family park with a nice woodie/steel coaster which I thought was pretty good, we had a dark ERS which was amazing, and at the end of the day, the ride was flying, Its a shame the Side Fricton Coaster doesnt run anymore, but you can't have anything
Paul Freeman
Couldnt ride J2 much due to damage inflicted earlier in the day by Boulder Dash!
Chris Hull
Mmm Ok.. An interesting contrast to some of the other parks but J2 did prove ridable after the 2nd or 3rd attempts. WILD as hell but somehow it grew on me. Lots of laughter and disorganised internal organs for me!
Malcolm Marr
Spent the night at Clementon Park, a little "community" park with a small selection of fairground type rides and one large wooden coaster, that some people loved but which I hated. I believe Justin has posted a picture of me showing how much this ride impressed me. I had rather prophetically worn a T-shirt with the words I got out of bed for this? and this was extremely apt. Some people liked this ride but it did nothing for me whatsoever. The best ride in the park was the big wheel which was being operated by some very amusing girls who were cussing each other. Dont you be saying anything about my ass etc.
Terry Jarvis
I have to say it, but im not sure if i had heard of Clementon Park until the surprise park was announced at lunch. But what a surprise it was! A great little Park with a lot at family rides and one hell of a coaster. Right from the moment the Coaster left the lift hill the ride was flying at an intense pace until it arrived back in the station. What a gem of a ride.
Tim Herre
Boulder Dash was incredibly rough in a good way STOP Wildcat awful STOP Did all coasters before Florian Kragl did STOP Rapids not a water ride but a swim ride STOP Then on to Clementon Lake STOP J2 aka Tsunami roughest Woodie on the planet STOP Youd had to lean into the curves like a bodsled pilot STOP Loved it STOP
Michael Badelt
Boulder Dash was certainly one of the most interesting wooden coasters I have seen. Ever raced alongside a mountain before? Great! Lake Compounce is definitely worth a visit. Now about Clementon Lake. I have exactly two words for J2/Tsunami that I definitely mean in a positive way: Evil Bitch
